mailman...

so, i'm supposed to be studying right now, but i have spent all day long solving calculus problems and I'M TIRED OF NUMBERS! i mean, who actually uses this stuff, like functions and differetiation, . it has been very hard to focus on this stuff because i have made a self diagnose of a combination of ADD and OCD, which is really bad.

i get so annoyed at people asking me why i study cell & molecular biology. i guess they think i should major in fashion & design (which would be cool too.) well, i like to study odd things. i mean, who doesn't appreciate the double helix structure of dna. come on, anything more cool? tell me? or could appreciate that protein is formed with three letter acromyns like ala, met, gly, leu, cys, and so on. i like to joke and say that i study cell & molecular biology because one day i will study at washington university (a top private research university in the u.s) and while there i'd like to clone myself. this would allow for me to sew twice as fast. or maybe one nathalie could sew while the other taught kennedy about splitting atoms or maybe about alpha amino acids. hummm, that sounds like a plan to me. in reality, when i started this major, my dream was to attend university of texas, study under nobel prize winning faculty, and become a physician. but, motherhood happened and plans changed (ok not completely). i love being a mom, although some days i'd like to run away and join the circus because i get so tired of tending to a little one's needs. but, all in all, it is a great thing. after some pretty awesome etsy sales days, i'd like to become a full time tutu designer and dress every little girl in the universe. is that an impossible task? it might not be if i had my own clone. now, can you get why i study what i study? end of discussion.

switching channels...

the mailman (actually it is a mailwoman) delivered some goodies today...which made me HAPPY!!! VERY HAPPY!!! first, a special mother's day gift from my dear bethany. ohhh bethany how i love you. you are too special for words! and you choose the perfect gift. could this be any more fitting? i LOVE HER! and kennedy, get your fingers away from "tati." that's what i named her. it was my childhood nickname. i have no idea how that came about. anyway, this sweet little ballerina mouse was made by sweet kathy at lizziejane. look at the cute packaging. and the extra touch...which makes me want to sew a red tutu with turquoise trim. seriously, would't it be gorgeous? and i could eat a big moist cupcake right now. geez, i just gained 20 lbs from this aweful thought. are you reading this....can you see the ADD part. and look again at the perfectly stacked suitcases up above, that's the OCD part.
and finally Tati! she is perfect. thanks again bethany. you are my hero!
and i got kennedy a sweet little hair clip from cakies. ruby is a new friend and i love her! she is so talented! in the package was also some super jumbo giant "holy cow these are big" red rick rack. i will use this to copy cat ruby and make kennedy one of these big daisy nap pillows by amy butler. kennedy says thanks for the idea ruby! yeah, i was about to buy the poor kid a dog bed for her to play on. how sad is that?
here is a very happy costumer. thank you ruby!
i love this girl!! who would now like to collect royalties from me for me using her name on this blog. she says she takes cakies in payment. because this makes her have a good hair day.
and i thought you would like to know this fact about me. there is only one thing i love more than, sewing, and that is to show dogs, in particular, the doberman breed. i grew up in a dog showing home, with shows every weekend, best of breeds, best in show, champions, rankings and statistics, studs, broodbitches, professional handling, advertisement, and the million things that are involved in showing dogs. so, the arrival of my spring issue of the pipeline - the official publication of the doberman pinscher club of america - makes me giddy. i'm a member of the dpca. like you care to know..lol!
ok, back to studying because i still have two more chapters about pure non-sense to cram inside this pea size brain of mine. see ya sometime in the future because my little etsy store is almost sold out (yep SOLD OUT!), which means i will be down stairs sewing...a lot. remember, i need to make a whole universe of pretty little girls very happy. that's all folks! happy cinco the mayo...i guess that was yesterday....ohh my it is already may 6th. hasta la vista.

what a day...

this day can't get any better......i must go to sleep now so it will end perfectly. but, can i? i'm on cloud 9. you gotta check this out here. matilda jane clothing is my most favorite recent find and who will dress kennedy for the rest of her life...that's after the trunk show i will host at my house in a couple of weeks. thanks a million denise! be sure to keep looking at the photos below. i can't get enough of them!

simply stunning...

this is all i can say after seeing these beautiful photos by amazingly talented photographer kara may . the photos below feature kara's beautiful little girl brielle wearing kennedy & friends co. tutus. what an amazing way to see my work. all of the late nights sewing have been more than worth it. it makes me happy to know i can contribute, even if in a small way, to a child's imagination. this has made my month! thank you so much kara and little brielle!

b-e-l-i-e-v-e

here is what arrived in the mail today. it was a little swap i made with lisa from one star away. she is one creative person and i absolutely love this banner! check out her creations in her etsy shop. i'm planning to decorate the wall around it. i'm thinking about putting a shelf up above and decorating with some handmade dolls and a pair of point shoes. what do you think? anyway, i will have fun looking at it and creating around it. because all things are possible when you b-e-l-i-e-v-e.

i hope you have a wonderful friday and an even better weekend! i will be busy trying to study for finals. i have managed to procrastinate all i could, now i can't hide anymore!

the drawing...

after a long dreadful week and weekend kennedy is doing much better. she really scared us on thursday and friday. paul took her to the doctor on thursday. her fever was about 104F. the doctor checked her out and sent her home. she told us to give her tylenol and motrin every 4 hours. that night her fever got to 105.4 F and we were frightened. after trying we calmed her down and gave her some medicine, her temperature lowered and she went back to sleep. the next day i took her to the pediatric urgent care and after a blood test they said she had a viral infection. she came back home and we continued with the antipyretic regimen. on saturday she started to feel a little better and slept through the night (for our immense happiness.) by sunday she was almost back to being her happy little self. today she is kennedy again. and we are very glad. i thought i was the one about to have a heart attack when i read her fever at 105.4F. so, thanks for the good wishes! they worked!

so i guess all of this was to top off a really bad last week. but this week is a new week. it started off really great with me making my sale number 69 on etsy. yeah you dirty minds....i know what you are thinking...lol! then i did a little swap (more to come on that), and got this (below) back.

several weeks ago i was surprised with this drawing...(scanned image below was borrowed from bethany)

the artist is bethany hissong who pens a sweet blog called red yarn. i can't even begin to tell you how much I LOVE bethany. she has become a dear friend and i'm thankful to have her in my life. it so weird that we can feel such great connection and yet have not even met. as they say, kindred spirits always manage to find one another. bethany is a very talented artist and i will forever cherish this drawing of kennedy. her drawing was based on a photo of kennedy's first easter egg hunt. the details are beautiful and you can tell it is kennedy from a mile away. i took this to get framed as soon as it arrived and today the store called me to pick it up. i went as fast as i could because i have had the perfect place waiting for this drawing. from the bottom of my heart....THANK YOU BETHANY! and here is a peek into kennedy's little kingdom...the place where i keep MY matryoshka/ babushka collection. as you can see this is one more use for a tutu....decorative item. this is kennedy's personal tutu (one of about 1 million others!)i found this old birg cage at an antique store and snatched it. a few coats of spray paint and it looks just as i had imagined...i made the little cloths birds for the room. we leave the cage door open so they can come and go as they please. they love to fly around the room and perch on the red bud branches. we have not named them yet, but i'm sure kennedy will someday. wishing you a beautiful week!!!

drum roll please...

thanks to random.org the winners are 4 and 12.

4 is emily at ravenhill who will take home the pastel wreath
12 is kajsa at syko who will take home the bold wreath

this has been one week from HELL! i have had tons of things to do and nothing is going right. kennedy is sick, we don't know what is wrong. very high fever and hard to please. today was an awful day filled with lots of college coursework. thank goodness i don't classes on friday. i did not think i would ever survive today, let alone one more day. but, a few things made my day a little better and i suspect i will continue to enjoy them.

my mr wolf arrived from syko. nope, no bribery involved i promise!!! she is just a lucky girl! i could not help when i saw mr. wolf. i'm crazy about red and blue, but most all little red riding hood!
and on the same mail delivery my special made tote from alice at raspberry. what is there not to love about this tote?! i already carried my school books in it and received lots of compliments!

thanks to all who participated in the drawing. i hope to have another one in the near future. now i'm off to go watch a brand new episode of my FAVORITE SHOW...which has not been aired since the writer's strike. GRAY'S ANATOMY!!!
